Bista resigns from UCPN (M)

A former minister and UCPN (Maoist) standing committee member resigned from the party on Tuesday. Lokendra Bista tendered his resignation accusing the party of sharply deviated from war-era agendas.
Bista, dissatisfied with the party policy since long, had been boycotting party meetings in recent times, said UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s aide Chunda Mani Khadka.
“He [Bista] did submit his resignation at the party headquarters,” Khadka confirmed, adding that Dahal had been trying to contact Bista for the past few days but to no avail.
“Everything will be settled once he meets the chairman,” he said.
A native of Rukum, Bista had been working with the party since the beginning of their revolution, spending several years in jail. He was defeated by CPN-UML’s Nawara Sharma in the second Constituent Assembly elections from Myagdi district.
He had served as Minister for Health and Population, and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation in previous governments
